Acupuncture Treatment of Trigeminal Neurologia
Chief Complaint: Facial Pain
Western Diagnosis: Trigeminal Neuralgia
History: 2 surgeries on the trigeminal nerve. An artery and vein were both wrapped around the nerve.
Symptoms: pain and numbness on the right side of the face. Sometimes got a electrical shock feeling, and sometimes a cold sensation.
Palpation: right side of the face was sensitive to touch. A pulse of deep and weak.
Observation: tongue was slightly red, thin white coating. A thinner shape
OM Diagnosis: qi and blood stagnation in the face, with a mild yin deficiency

History: Patient had been seeing a chiropractor for some time with some improvement, but the progress had stopped.
Symptoms: Intense back pain on the right side lateral to L2-L5
Palpation: Choppy, big
Observation: Dark red and purple

Oriental Medicine Treatment of Fibromyalgia
Chief Complaint: Body Aches
Western Diagnosis: Fibromyalgia
History: Body Aches (9 years); this includes neck/arms/feet; numbness and pain; only recently it extends to fingers; she notices finger pains when she picks up things. has been diagnosed with arthritis; stress; muscle tension; tried Aleve, it’s been helpful with body aches; it’s worse in the morning when waking up and getting up, she “felt like 90”; especially in feet. Tried physical therapy, too. Secondary complaints: low sex drive. Current medications – Prion (digestion prescription); flovent (asthma inhaler); singular (asthma pill); Sudafed (OTC sinus drug, when needed); asteline & nasonex are inhaler of different types; used to take clortrimitron (antihistamin), but currently off it; multivitamin, calcium, flaxseed oil; aleve (pain); docicyclin (laxative).Hospitalization. Surgeries, Injuries – bunions (’86), tubes tied.

History: Diagnosed with Fibromyalgia by a specialist in 2002
Taking oxycodone for pain, and ambien and trazadone for sleep
Symptoms: Arthralgia of neck, back, elbows, jaw – Insomnia, Loose stools
Palpation: Slippery full
Observation: pink, swollen, greasy yellow coating
OM Diagnosis: Damp heat in the muscles

Chief Complaint: sharp pain on head
History: Appendectomy @ age 18 Tonsillectomy @ 8 y.o., Gall Bladder taken out @ 43 y.o., halted menstruation, 1975- Thyroid burned with radiation, Hearing Loss in Right ear in 2000
Symptoms: Pain in upper back between scapula, Pin to move the shoulder, stiff, pain comes & goes
Palpation: Earth pulse is a little deficient
Observation: Stagnation on sides of tongue, Thick white coat, slightly blood stasis

History: Male. 63 years old.
Patient had had indigestion on and off for 8 months, continuous for last 2 months.

Acupuncture Treatment of Headache
Chief Complaint: headache
History: 50 year old female presented with a headache which she had without any relief for two years. Patient was on prednisone, darvocet, vicoden and over the counter medications for pain. Her doctor wanted to put her on additional medication for the anxiety and depression she had as a result of the pain and pain medication. This is the reason she sought out alternative medicine.
Symptoms: Constant unrelenting headache except when heavily medicated. The patient could point to a specific place for the pain in her neck and head

Chief Complaint: weakness and numbness in the legs
Western Diagnosis: Diabetic Neuropathy
History: Patient is a 61 year old male weighing 235 lbs, diagnosed with type 2 diabetes eleven years ago. Since then he has neuropathies in his lower extremities. In addition, he has pitting edema in his lower extremities, drop-foot in both ankles resulting from a pinched nerve at L4-L5 vertebrae caused by two car accidents.

History: 54 yr old male with 9 yr history of left sided ear ringing. Occasional dizziness with no regular pattern.

The Acupuncture Treatment of Herpes Zoster (Shingles)
Chief Complaint: Damp Heat invading Liver and Gall Bladder
Western Diagnosis: Herpes Zoster
Medical History: The patient was a 31 year old male, approximately 5ft 10″ tall and slightly overweight. He had a sallow complexion with swollen eyelids and a weak sounding voice.
His chief complaint was herpes zoster (shingles), the blisters had just started to appear 2 days ago. Plus he had been feeling very tired a lot of the time for the past few months.
