The Treatment of Sciatica Pain with Acupuncture
Chief Complaint: sciatica
Medical History: The patient’s history included having his right femur crushed in a car accident 50 years before, and right knee replaced 3 1/2 years before.
Questioning exam: A seventy-nine year old man presented with sciatic pain which had begun 6 weeks before, in the early winter. The pain began in the lumbar area and traversed down the posterior aspect of the right thigh, calf, and into the 4th and 5th toes, following the Urinary Bladder channel. In addition, pain also went into the right inguinal area and down the medial aspect of the right thing, following the Liver and Kidney meridians.

The Acupuncture Treatment of Peripheral Neuropathy and Headaches
Chief Complaint: One-sided Headaches and Peripheral Neuropathy
Western Diagnosis: Degenerative Disk Disease and Type II Diabetes
Medical History: 66 year old male w/ chief complaint of severe headaches that only come on after sitting for long periods of time (ie driving, then getting out of car). They are one-sided, always on the right, and are so severe his eyes will water and he gets dizzy. Patient has slightly high cholesterol and blood pressure. Also has high blood sugar, on average about 240. Is not over weight but has poor diet and no exercise. Does not smoke but likes to drink alcohol every night.

The Acupuncture Treatment of Sciatica
Chief Complaint: Leg numbness, sciatica
Western Diagnosis: Narrowing, of L-4,L-5 diskspace
Medical History: 59 year old male,sedentary, overweight. Gradual onset of low back pain leading to sciatica now with numbness of in L-4, L-5 dermatone. Numbness began 2 years ago.
Questioning exam: Low back pain is dull, numbness increases with movement and cold and/or damp weather. Frequent urination as well as dribbling of urine.

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine for Prickling Pain
Chief Complaint: Prickling pain the lower legs and feet and low back pain
Western Diagnosis: Ideopathic peripheral neuropathy, osteoarthritis, osteopenia
Medical History: Patient is a 64 year old female who suffered an anxiety attack five years ago and a TIA three years ago before being diagnosed hyperthyroid and underwent a radioactive iodine treatment. She is now hypothyroid taking supplemental levothyroid and a daily 80mg aspirin. Patient suffers from osteoarthritis in the knees, feet and hands with visible deformity. Patient also suffers from osteopenia and takes Fossamax weekly. Otherwise, patient has an excellent diet and walks regularly. Patient lives near her family and sees them regularly, she also participates in various classes for seniors at the local community center.

Acupuncture for Edema in Legs
Chief Complaint: Migraine and edema in legs
Medical History: Has taken contraceptive for 1 year.
Questioning exam: Migraine with nausea and mouth ulcers for over 10 years. Temporal and on the right side with loss of vision in the left eye and numbness in the left arm.
Dizziness on standing up

Acupunture and Herbal Treatment of Low Back Pain
Chief Complaint: low back pain
Medical History: 37 year old male presents with acute low back pain occurring for two weeks after turning to the left while squatting, and simultaneously holding a tire/wheel assembly, during an emergency tire change. Patient is a taxi cab owner/driver, sedentary, and a regular smoker.
Questioning exam: Patient has desire to sleep after eating, a bitter taste in mouth and experiences acid reflux. He drinks 8 cups of coffee daily, in addition to sodas. He sleeps in an uncomfortable bed 3-5 hours a night, has trouble falling asleep, and wakes up at night due to light, restless sleep and occasional disturbing dreams. Patient also reports an energy level of 5/10, low libido, a left knee that has pain in response to changes in weather, and a history of migraine headaches for 4 months.
