Chief Complaint: colorectal cancer
Western Diagnosis: colorectal cancer stage IV
Medical History: age – 55. female. was a smoker and alcohol abuser but quit both 15 years ago, diet includes little vegetable or fruit, high animal fats, high in refined foods, lots sweets, caffeine in form of coffee and also pop, little exercise.

Acupuncture and Herb for Hip and Knee Pain
Chief Complaint: Left Hip and Knee pain
Medical History: Pain started after having gallbladder and right Kidney removed. After right kidney was removed patient had an infected scar and was put on anti-inflammatory drugs for some time, during which there was no pain. Once off drugs pain returned. Patient (F 59) was checked for rheumatoid arthritis and negative, arthritis was also ruled out, and was recommended to visit an acupuncturist. No prior pain to operations. On hypertension drugs also, blood pressure is under control.

Acupuncture Treatment of Neck and Back Pain
Chief Complaint: neck & back pain
Medical History: car accidents (2) 25 years apart. 1st frontal. and hit from passenger side by truck. Seat belts worn. 12th rib removed, partial kidney damage and surgery to repair. Patient overweight, low energy limited mobility, also suffering family loss, unrelated to accidents. Now has “head of family”responsibilities…
Questioning exam: poor sleep. always hungry, gets very irritated when food is deprived. Limbic system is out of control. Pain is localized to C3 left side. Tightness across the T3 line, limits range of motion. Low energy. Other vitals unremarkable, except pulse rate is a bit high ( 80 – 90 ) avg.

Acupuncture Treatment of Trigeminal Neurologia
Chief Complaint: Facial Pain
Western Diagnosis: Trigeminal Neuralgia
History: 2 surgeries on the trigeminal nerve. An artery and vein were both wrapped around the nerve.
Symptoms: pain and numbness on the right side of the face. Sometimes got a electrical shock feeling, and sometimes a cold sensation.
Palpation: right side of the face was sensitive to touch. A pulse of deep and weak.
Observation: tongue was slightly red, thin white coating. A thinner shape
OM Diagnosis: qi and blood stagnation in the face, with a mild yin deficiency

Chinese Medicine in the Treatment of Habitual Miscarriages
Chief Complaint: Frequent miscarriages
Medical History: This patient is a 30-year old woman with a history of frequent miscarriages. In the past year she had two miscarriages, one twelve months ago, and a second miscarriage nine months ago. Each miscarriage occurred during the first trimester of her pregnancy. Her gynecologist prescribed Progesterone and Clomid, neither of which produced a period of viable pregnancy. She has not had a period in six months, and would like to become pregnant again without miscarrying.

History: none
Symptoms: No energy, wants to sleep all the time, inability to lose weight, feel cold, low back pain, hair loss.
Palpation: Very deep in the kidney positions, slippery in the spleen position, weak.
Observation: Pale tongue with teeth marks

Chief Complaint: overmedicated, drowsy
Western Diagnosis: Psychosis NOS
History: Client is 38 y old female in a “sober living” facility. Has used drugs and alcohol. Two children in foster care. Mother is supportive and wants her to get some help and reduce medication. Accompanied by mother, sometimes with one daughter.
Symptoms: Pt is very bloated, with two negative pregnancy tests. Has loose stools, and stress urinary incontinence. Imagines people looking at her and herself attacking their eyes and feels depressed about this recurrent idea.

Acupuncture and Herbs for Uncontrollable Laughter
Chief Complaint: Uncontrollable Laughter
Medical History: This patient is a 24-year old woman who has periods of uncontrollable laughter for two years. She was in a very bad car accident two years ago, and since that time has been easily startles or “jumpy” and had laughing spells that she is unable to stop. The laughter is worse when she feels overwhelmed. She describes the laughter as a sensation of stress in her chest which moves to her throat and then comes out as laughter. The patient reports that she can partially control the laughter by thinking peaceful thoughts.

Palpation: Slightly Choppy, Slightly Thin
Observation: Red Body, No Coat, large purple spots scattered throughout the body, slightly dry

Acupuncture for Stomachache
Chief Complaint: Stomach Pain, irregular stool
Western Diagnosis: Ulcerative Colitis
History: As a young child, parents divorced and patient began having “stomach and digestive issues”. 9 years ago began experiencing bloody stool and severe abdominal pain after mother died of cancer. Several doctors and testing are really not definitive, but they diagnosis her with ulcerative colitis.
