Acupuncture and Moxabustion used for Poison Oak Rash

Chief Complaint: persistent poison oak rash

Western Diagnosis: poison oak

Medical History: 45 year old male recently emerged from a nasty divorce. Presenting with a poison oak rash that would not go away despite western medical treatment. The patient had taken oral steroids to no avail and the next step was injected steroids. He was coming to acupuncture to avoid this step.

Questioning exam: Patient was tense and fearful, had a dark blue/black hue visible at his temples, smelled putrid and had a groan quality to his voice.

Acupuncture Treatment of Allergenic Hives

Chief Complaint: Hives with itchiness

Western Diagnosis: Allergy

Medical History: 37 female, full-time mother of two children.
Developed the Hive condition all over the body in Oct 2004.

Approx 30 lbs overweight. Went to a dermatologist to check for allergies but found none. Indicated that she can only wear gold/silver jewelries. She likes to eat Cheese but does not drink Milk, nor smokes. Has a mild scoliosis. Taking over-the-counter allergy pills but needed to take more recently (every 12 hours or more). She feels stressed taking care of kids and not getting enough sleep. She also reported a nagging lower back ache.
She never had a acupuncture before.

Acupuncture Treatment of Acne Rosacea

Chief Complaint: Acne Rosacea

Medical History: The patient is a 50 year old female whose Acne Rosacea, localized mainly around her mouth and chin. During her adolescent years she was diagnosis with severe Acne by her physician. In her thirties she was diagnosis with Acne Rosacea by a Dermatologist. For past two years the outbreaks has been moderate to acute. Her lesion is diameter of an eraser on a pencil. They are pustules and painful. When the lesion breaks open, they bleed and is easily irritate. Simply splashing water on her face to wash it or wiping her mouth area with dinner napkin can cause the to lesions to bleed.

Chinese Herbal Medicine Treatment of Herpes Zoster

Chief Complaint: Skin Rash for over 10 years

Medical History: Herpes zoster
Questioning exam: Rashes all over the body, especially at neck, chest and arm, it is all red and itching, the skin at forearm is thickened and it is also dry, headache on left temple on and off, hip pain and leg pain on left side, left earache, weight gain, western medicine helped the rashes and itching but get worse when stopped. do not want to use forever western medicine and want to be treated by natural medicine

Pulse exam: pulse is very deep and hard to be felt because of the thickening of the skin, slightly slippery and wiry

Tongue exam: Small tongue compare to her body size, thin yellow greasy tongue coating, red tip

Herbs and Acupuncture for Poison Wood Rash

Chief Complaint: Severe Rash

Western Diagnosis: Poison Wood Rash

Medical History: 57 year old male in good heath with moderately good diet, Plays basketball three times a week for exercise. Past history of fungal type rashes and respiratory infections.

Questioning exam: Patient was hiking on vacation in the Bahamas and brushed against a poison wood tree coming in contact with a black sappy substance. Unaware of what it was, patient tried to remove the sap from his arm. This sap then got under his finger nails and was unknowingly spread to other parts of the body. This sap later caused a severe red, raised rash that oozed and crusted over with bright red margins. Since patient was long distance and had few resources, he was advised to use tea bags on lesions, drink mint tea, and eat cooling foods until return home for treatment.

Oriental Medicine for Hives and GERD

Chief Complaint: Rashes, heart burn and sudden onset fatigue

Western Diagnosis: Hives and Acid reflex associated with stress

Medical History: Patient is a 40 year old female, who generally is in good health. She has had hives since childhood, hives comes and goes. Anti-histamine medication or prednisone did not help in the past. She used to take patent herbs for a few days, the rashes would be gone for a couple of months. Wherever she did not get enough sleep or stressed out, the rashes showed up again. Also each time she got pregnant, she tends to get hives. She never had heart burn before, but sometimes has bloating and indigestion when she eats greasy food .

Western Diagnosis: psoriasis

Medical History: 38 year old male with psoriasis for 10 years. He believes it was caused by photo-processing chemicals. He has been treated with steroid-family injections but relief is temporary. He also uses creams, Ultravate and Duvanex to control itching. His pulse is slow and he exercises regularly.

Questioning exam: He states the psoriasis lesions worsen in winter, with stress, and possibly with spicy food.

Chief Complaint: Vitiligo

Medical History: This is 37 years old male suffering from vitiligo for almost 12 years. No history of vitiligo in family.

Questioning exam: fatigued, pale skin color, brittle nails, dry and warm eyes, frontal headache, numbness on both legs and hands, poor memory, insomnia with dream disturbed sleep, hair falling out, right hypochondriac pain, constipation, some times ringing in ears, low back pain with frequent urination (two times per night) low sex drive.

The Oriental Medicine Treatment of Herpes Zoster

A Case of Herpes Zoster

Nancy, 52 year-old female, paid her first visit on October 10, 2000, complained of rashes with burning pain on the area right below the left breast for 3 days.

She noticed millet-sized red rashes three days ago, which developed into small blisters and are clustered two days later. The affected area is very painful. Other symptoms include mild headache, anxiety, bitter taste in the mouth, mild constipation. She had not taken any medication for this problem.
