Chief Complaint: Painful periods
Western Diagnosis: Dysmenorrhea
Medical History: The patient is a 29 year old female with primary dysmenorrhea. Her menses started at the age of 12 and problems started at the age of 13. At the age of 8 she suffered a left inguinal hernia located about Liver 12, which was repaired surgically. The patient drinks alcohol on the weekends and smokes cigarettes regularly.

Oriental Medicine for Hives and GERD
Chief Complaint: Rashes, heart burn and sudden onset fatigue
Western Diagnosis: Hives and Acid reflex associated with stress
Medical History: Patient is a 40 year old female, who generally is in good health. She has had hives since childhood, hives comes and goes. Anti-histamine medication or prednisone did not help in the past. She used to take patent herbs for a few days, the rashes would be gone for a couple of months. Wherever she did not get enough sleep or stressed out, the rashes showed up again. Also each time she got pregnant, she tends to get hives. She never had heart burn before, but sometimes has bloating and indigestion when she eats greasy food .

Questioning exam: night sweats, irritability, strong stress in life especially at the time of onset, dark circles under eyes, cold hands and feet, tendency toward constipation, wakes 1x at PM to urinate, PMS – mood swings, breast sensitivity, period – dark clots and cramps, heavy flow.

Medical History: This is the 3rd bout of TN in the last 2 years. Patient takes a ferry to and from work which is cold and windy. Patient also has a history of injury to the face, which is suspected as cause of current problem. Patient is slightly overweight, with slightly high blood pressure.
Questioning exam: No symptoms other than pain in the right cheek, worse with chewing, smiling, and laughing.

Acupuncture Treatment for Anxiety
Chief Complaint: Intense anxiety and fear
Medical History: 26 yrs. old. female. patient said: “My mom came to visit and before she came I cleaned house for two days; I woke up in the middle of the night and recaulked the bathroom, ate 1/4 jar peanut butter and sugar/cereal until I got sick. When my mom left, I got anxious again, I sat home and feared that this is what my life would be like? I would never progress?
During interview, Patient exhibited lots of blue and groan in addition to being red/scorched and inappropriate laugh.

Chief Complaint: Severe pain, edema and stiffness of various joints for 8 weeks.
Western Diagnosis: Rheumatoid Arthritis
Medical History: Severe pain, edema and stiffness of various joints which were symmetrical and typical of RA. Joints affected included ankles, knees, hips, fingers, wrists, jaw, elbows and shoulders. Patient’s mobility was very poor and she needed considerable help with her personal needs. All activities were painful, the majority severely.
Questioning exam: Dull ache with stiffness. Worse at night. Trigger by coldness and tiredness.
